  1. Rosenborg-Celtic

    New appointment:

    AR2: Karel De Rocker (Bel)
    4th Off: Nathan Verboomen

  2. French Supercup, today 29/07/17 in Tangier (Morocco):
    AS Monaco - PSG
    Noureddine El Jaafari (Morocco)
Hicham Ait Abbou (Morocco) - Lahcen Azgaou (Morocco)
    Adil Zourak (Morocco)

  3. A nice appointment for Marriner for the game between Ajax and Nice

  4. The appointments are interesting in many ways I feel... Unlike last year, none of the leading 1st group referees like Soares Dias, Taylor, Oliver are used in this round??? Does UEFA plan to use them for CL playoff games and rest the experienced Elites till the group stages and WC Qualifiers??? Interesting...

  5. Very poor performance of Morocco referee. Many important fouls forgotten, wall at 11-12 m prior to 1-1. Stonewall penalty before match ending...More or less no authority. Sad refereeing tonight.

  6. Niclas do you know who will the referees for audi cup be?

A few interesting situations from UCL match Sherif-Qarabag. The penalty decision is correct, but what about card? Also interesting situation with first goal in the match- offside or not, impact or not impact the opponent?

    1. 1) Wrong free kick and YC, maybe referee thought it was a reckless elbow but it was just an accidental collision between heads, nothing more. Interesting that referee looked at the blood and then only after that he decided to book the player, this is the clear signal that he hadn't the exact perception of the incident.
      2) Very good that we have a replay from a camera behind the goal. I think NO FLAG is at least supportable there. Goalkeeper has a clear view at the moment of the shot (player in offside is not obstructing him), then when the ball passes, I think that the player doesn't make any clear gesture or attempt to play that could influence the keeper. In any case, it is in my opinion almost impossible for AR to raise the flag, in case, for offside in suchh situation. He should be very sure of the fact that attacker was obstrucing keeper's view.
      3) Not a foul in my opinion, true that defender leaves his leg there, but the contact is fully wanted by attacker, who deliberately goes towards the opponent to get the free kick. However, I wouldn't consider the whistle as clear mistake. This is always very difficult to spot from the pitch.
      4) Penalty is a correct decision, the foul starts outside the box and it ends in. SPA or DOGSO? In my opinion YC for SPA still supportable. Attacker had still to head towards the goal and there was another defender quite close, I think he could have intervened. I wouldn't find wrong a RC for DOGSO, I can find supportable a YC for SPA. Of course, in any case, not a genuine attempt to play the ball, so if DOGSO, RC.

    2. I agree with you Chefren about 1.,2.,3., but the situation with penalty for my looks more DOGSO. Other defender didn't have posibility to intervened, he was to far. Probably the attacker running was not fast , but I think he had clear posibility to score the goal in the next steps.

  9. Copenhagen v Vardar
71' : Copenhagen player Gregus sent off by referee John Beaton

    1. It seems he had a very challenging game with this sending off, and then a penalty.

  10. Marriner didn't give Sarr (nice)him 2nd YC for kicking the ball away.

  11. I have some doubts about the penalty called by Gil to Young Boys for 1-0.
At moment, more than crucial for qualification!

    1. IMO never a penalty in this situation ! The defender was first going into the ball, he control the situation. If here is offence, it should by for opposite direction.

  12. Big mistake by AR1 Mustafa Emre Eyisoy on Rijeka-Salzburg match.
He called offside, but Salzburg's player was CLEARLY onside.

    1. Unbelievable mistake. Unfortunately very, very important for the outcome of the game.

    2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcS1HAJS56I
Very interesting situation, mistake is easily explained: AR lost the visual contact of the defender who was trying a tackle, lying on the ground. An unexpected situation to read. Unlucky scenario for Salzburg.
Very good flag in first half by AR2, in this case correctly disallowing another goal.

  13. Correct goal signal from AR2 Stephan Luzi in Moscow

  14. Two red cards in Ludogorets - Hapoel Beer Sheva and I guess, given the score especially in the last minutes, a very challenging game for Serdar Gözübüyük.
Herbet Fandel will have surely so much stuff to analyze there.

  15. Very, very hot game for Gozobuyuk- Fandel definitely has a lot to observe. I only watched the last minutes, but they featured a great management including a penalty (which I just missed) and two RCs.

  16. Fandel will be very pleased. Good performance by Dutch team, very tight (and correct) offside calls by both ARs...

  17. Question for you - it's been a long time since I refereed my last match. Yesterday I saw (match FH : Maribor) something new to me - when Maribor score their winning goal, some players from the bench come on the pitch to celebrate with the team.

The referee decided to send 2nd goalie from NK Maribor off - but without card. Is this normal in this case or it should be red card?

    1. Tilen, is it true that Kralovic was way below standard in HF-MB?

  18. Comments about him are far worse that his match was... It's not comparable with Kuchin (AEL - Austria Wien), but performance wasn't perfect also. No mistakes with bigger influence on match result.

    1. Thx for the opinion, the comments are in fact even worse as about Treimanis (1st leg).

  19. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yklY8-YxTI
Very interesting situations from Ludogorets - Hapoel Beer Sheva.
Check the last minutes of the video, for the straight RC to Marcelinho (LUD).
If I'm not wrong, Gözübüyük gave advantage and then only after that he sent off the player from home-team for violent conduct. A very dangerous choice, I understand that he thought it could have been a crucial counterattack, but still, it wasn't an obvious goal scoring opportunity. So the Dutch should have stopped the game, in my opinion. Something similar to what happened in a game officiated by Kruzliak about one year ago, he gave advantage on a second YC and then he had to stop the game because the player involved interfered with the play.
Also, to underline, the excellent NO FLAG by AR2 in the last counterattack by Hapoel Beer-Sheva: you can see the contrary movements attacker - defender.
I don't understand the reason of the penalty, I think there is something missing in the video, it is possible he whistled for handball?
Moreover, the second YC to Israeli player seems OK.

    1. I think it was a handball. There are not too much reactions, so I think the penalty is correct and I think it is called by the assistant. I see a move with the arm, but not the actual contact. But I think we should deem it as correct.

I think the choice for advantage is very brave here. It might also be that he didnt see the actual impact but just the duel, so that he was later informed by his assistant. But whistling in this situation might take away the last opportunity for Hapoel. Who would he make happy with that? Hapoel would protest, because their chance is taken away, Ludogorets is angry because of the red card... I think this is the way to get the least protests.

    2. I can agree with you, based on the progress of the game in that moment, the choice to give advantage is surely suitable. Everything was well managed with a big chance for the visitors and then the RC for Marcelinho. I also agree that it was possible at first glance Gözübüyük had not the exact perception of the incident and then the card was issued thank also to cooperation with AR1. However, merely according to LotG this should be avoided: referee had to show immediately the card.

    3. I agree on that. Usually, that should have happened. But in this particular game, at this particular moment, I think it's a good choice.

  20. I agree with Rik B. Very difficult match fot the Dutch team. Fandel will be very happy. The advantage situation are very brave, the player score almost. I think the ref didn't see the impact of the foul and somebody from his team inform him, but of course he can not stop the game when attacker go alone to the goal. After he missed the big chance the ref stopped the game and gave the red card. I think excellent management and don't wait for problems (look the time) the player accepted directly his red card. After i see the Under 21 Poland Tournament and now this game i am very positive about the dutch referee with a very difficult name :)

    1. I think that Fandel himself would handle this game in the same style exactly.
