  1. VAR in Venezuela - Vanuatu:
Very interesting situation. Goal had been disallowed due to offside, raised flag by AR.
VAR intervened and goal was then allowed.
Who touched the ball by head? Even watching replay, it is not clear. Surely VAR officials were sure, head butt by defender. But I'm not sure, it seems as at least both players touch the ball.

    1. 00:55 - deliberate handball?

    2. About the offside case, surely the VARs selected one of the almost 20 camera angles available which were much closer and better than in this highlight video.

  2. Sad news: Serie B referee chairman and UEFA observer Stefano Farina has passed away, aged only 54. May he rest in peace.

    1. I'm shocked, touched and shocked. Nobody here could expect that.
Until a few time ago he was at the head of serie B referees without any small trouble. Then, everything happened in a while. No words, simply no words. All Italian referees are now in a very deep mourning.
      May he rest in pace.

    2. RIP.If i did not a mistake he was in charge og UCl final in 2001

  3. Very strange appointments in FRA-VIE for Hauata and Revel( Tahiti) and Brial (New Caledonia) because you know that all these territories belong to...France ! Unexpected for me !

    1. Indeed, this appointment should be forbidden in my opinion. I hope that committee knows that.

    2. They might be go for a swap like they swapped Çakir with Eriksson in the Iran v Costa Rica game!!

  4. Senegal v United States 4th official appointment has changed... Roberto Garcia Orozco has replaced Cesar Ramos... I think Cesar Ramos will have a game in MD3 on 26/05 either in Group A or B!!

    1. Indeed Cesar Ramos has England v South Korea on MD3 (26/05/17)

  5. Does anybody knows colour of referee kits of ucl final

    1. The referee team will wear the yellow Adidas Referee16 jersey.

    2. Are you sure? I would expect them to wear the UCL kits...

    3. @George, sorry my mistake. The info I reported is about EL final.
CL final info is not still known.

    4. Chefren thank you so much.

  6. VARs for 25/03 :

    France - Vietnam (Group E)
VAR 1 : Daniele Orsato (Italy)
VAR 2 : Malang Diedhiou (Senegal)

New Zealand - Honduras (Group E)
VAR 1 : Gery Vargas (Bolivia)
VAR 2 : Jose Argote (Venezuela)

Ecuador - Saudi Arabia (Group F)
VAR 1 : Mehdi Abid Charef (Algeria)
    VAR 2 : Eric Otogo-Castane (Gabon)

    Senegal - USA (Group F)
VAR 1 : Mauro Vigliano (Argentina)
VAR 2 : Wilton Sampaio (Brazil)

  8. 26/05/2017

    England - South Korea
    Referee: César Ramos (Mexico).
Assistant Referee 1: Marvin Torrentera (Mexico)
Assistant Referee 2 : Miguel Angel Hernandez Paredes (Mexico)
Fourth Official: Mario Diaz de Vivar (Paraguay)

    Guinea - Argentina
    Referee: Viktor Kassai (Hungary)
Assistant Referee 1: György Ring (Hungary)
Assistant Referee 2: Vencel Toth (Hungary)
    Fourth Official: Ivan Kruzliak (Slovakia)

    Mexico - Venezuela
    Referee: Jonas Eriksson (Sweden)
Assistant Referee 1: Mathias Klasenius (Sweden)
Assistant Referee 2: Daniel Wärnmark (Sweden)
Fourth Official: Ahmed Al Kaf (Oman)

    Germany - Vanuatu
    Referee: Walter Lopez (Guatemala)
Assistant Referee 1: Gerson Lopez (Guatemala)
Assistant Referee 2: Hermenerito Leal (Guatemala)
    Fourth Official: Yadel Martinez (Cuba)

  9. Costa Rica - Portugal:
About the first penalty, for me no punishable handball, the touch happens with the upper body / shoulder. Interesting that VAR didn't intervene to correct referee's decision. Very likely in handball situations, almost all cases will be backed. For me, however, a mistake. Doubts on the second penalty whistled as well, but in this case I fully agree with VAR: no intervention.

    1. Referee Abdulrahman Al Jassim didn't impress me a lot... He just seemed to be all over the place throughout the game!! I'm not that convinced by the AFC referees in this tournament!!

01:20 very well spotted by Hauata, violent conduct with ball away

    1. Should it have been a direct red in that case?? Hauata showed a 2nd YC!!

    2. I thought he had issued a straight RC, but indeed it is a second YC.
Well, so the foul was assessed as "only" reckless. Without a clear evidence, one can agree with referee.

    3. This is the 2nd YC situation in full:

  11. Anybody seen a replay of the penalty incident? Seemed soft.

    1. Penalty is indeed soft, but since no mistake, VAR supported it without intervening. The same perhaps could be said for penalty whistled by Alioum in the other game, but in this case penalty is more justified in my opinion.

    2. And the penalty incident:

    3. Thank you both, correct decision in my eyes.

  12. Anyone understand what happened with the penalty decision in the highlights package at 1:14 here:

Penalty and red awarded. Player stayed on the field with a yellow. Did VAR review?

    1. Missed a quite easy advantage, referee could have waited only 1 second more before whistling... however, for me it is very difficult to understand what was whistled there. The statistics at the end of the video don't report a RC, so surely it was annulled by VAR.

    2. It seems the referee took the wrong card out, because immediately after he showed the yellow. Probably he whistled the arm around the neck of NZE15 (near second post), but as Chefren already mentioned he should have waited a moment to see whether an advantage could be played.
      This is the situation:

    3. Thanks. Agree he just pulled the wrong card.

    4. Despite rewatching the scene several times, I can't still spot the infrigement he whistled. Based on the EPSN commentary ( it was a foul by HON #3 (who was booked) on NZL #15.
