  1. Could this indicate that Brych, Çakir, Eriksson, Kassai and Kuipers won't be going for the Confederations Cup in Russia??

    1. Of course they wont go there. But I have a question, what is the need in appointing them for such tournaments? :D
All should be absolutely well known by FIFA committee...

    2. I would've liked to see the experienced guys going for the Confederations Cup and the newbies being tested in South Korea in the U20 WC!! Interestingly UEFA seems to be the only confederation from where so many experienced referees are selected for this tournament... From the other Confederations the relatively new referees on the list are selected!!

    3. I agree with you. For FIFA, UEFA seems a different "business" than other confederations, if you understand what I mean. UEFA officials are always the same in such tournaments. Would have been more logical to read names like Eriksson, Kuipers, Cakir, Kassai at Confederations Cup. The latter is surely a more followed and interesting tournament, even though quite short than U20. In U20 WC one can make many experiments...

    4. Exactly Chefren and that's why would've preferred the likes of Hategan, Turpin, Sidiropoulos, Collum, Kralovec, Moen and such officials being trialled and experimented with in this tournament rather than Brych, Çakir, Eriksson, Kassai and Kuipers!! Looks like Skomina, Rocchi, Mazic, Hategan, Turpin are some of the names who are very lucky to be selected for Confederations Cup!!

    6. Indeed, Skomina, Rocchi, Mazic, Hategan, Turpin are quite sure names for Confederations in Russia.

    8. Would've personally loved to see Marciniak going to Russia for the Confederations Cup... Coming to the U20 WC, things are looking really great for Sergei Karasev at the moment... He is a near certainty for selection to 2018 WC thanks to Russia being the host nation!!

  2. Situation for CL / EL finals.
    CL final: Skomina / Mazic.
EL final: Rocchi / Hategan / Turpin (and of course Skomina / Mazic as well).
    Impossible to see different names.

    1. I wrote exactly the same under previous post. :D

    2. Don't think Hategan and Turpin should get any final this year... Will be way too early for them and I would dare say that they won't be getting anything more than EL QF this year...At most an EL SF might be possible but nothing more than that!!

      My predictions will be :
      CL Final : Damir Skomina
EL Final : Milorad Mazic / Gianluca Rocchi

  3. Mateu Lahoz repeats two years later in the same tournament, but in very different situations. Two years ago, he went with some referees for the future (Zwayer, Vad, Soares Dias, Hategan), and now he goes with the top european referees. How can that be read? As a "promotion" to the top of the Elite? As a further test? Just an appointment with no further meaning?

Of course, the main question is: why do they appoint this kind of referees (who could easily be the refs of a WC final, at least most of UEFA's) to an U20 competition? Maybe as the best moment for "massive" VAR training?

  4. Busy months for Ivan Kružliak. This appointment as support referee is a very good signal for him, and only 5 days after the end of the tournament in South Korea, he will fly to Poland for U21 Championship. Of course, I don't think he will stay in South Korea until the end of the tournament, however he will have in any case a short time between the two major tournaments.

    1. Interesting also to point out that among support referees, the ones from Oman for AFC and from Paraguay for CONMEBOL are new names for FIFA tournaments, in the meaning that they were not included in the previous lists of preselected officials. Differently, Ivan Kružliak for UEFA, Yadel Martínez for CONCACAF and Bamlak Tessema Weyesa for CAF were preselected at previous stages of the process. Perhaps there isn't a reason for that, but surely particular.

  5. *U20 tournament will be hosted by South Korea between 20 May and 11 June 2017..
*Confederation cup will be held in Russia, from 17 June to 2 July 2017..

    CL Final 03/06/17
    EL Final 24/05/17

At first glance, it looks like the U20 tournament participants will beexcluded from selection for the CL/EL final.
But, I don't think that all of selected referees will stay until the end of the U20, especially VARs (and especially Marciniak).

So, I won't exclude them from CL final selection with 100%.
    Your thoughts?

    1. For CL final, you can't exclude this hypothesis, but honestly I can't imagine a referee flying to South Korea, being back only 10 days later and then appointed for a major final. It is more logical to plan everything and I think UEFA Referees Committee did that.
